IR LED's to defeat License Plate Recognition

Using this as a template, but using 5w IR LED's instead of many smaller LED's i'm thinking of building something to blind those ever increasing IR plate scanners that are installed on police cars.

The back should be easy to wire up the power and to hide the bulbs, but the front is gonna be harder.

Anyone ever attempt this? Or is my foil hat too thick on my head?

Try it why not?

Reminds me of that mythbusters episode where they tried everything to jam police radar lol

Sounds more like Avoid tolls

The IR will work because the cameras are very sensitive to that area of the spectrum.

Jamming police radar/lidar is only useful if you go to court, they'll still write the ticket and cost at least a day off work. Interesting DIY project but don't rely too heavily on it.

Not to mention unless you are driving 90 in a 35 a cop won't even notice, its not exactly a rare car to see on the road. Well unless its defcons lol!

I'm wondering if putting reflective tape around the tag area might work. Here's my attempt:

The last post in the thread was over 4 years ago, so there may be some newer technology out there now to foil the alien's attack.
