**Replica Mugen Parts - Vote If Interested**

Long story short, I have a friend who can help out our community by making replica mugen parts for the 09+ TSX. Here is the original discussion thread

http://tsx.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=712072

This thread you are reading now will be to keep track of how many people would like to see the production of these parts. There is no commitment involved; just need to know how many people would actually like to see this thing happen! Hopefully if we get enough votes, I can convince my friend that the TSX is a growing market and that we really really do want some affordable aero parts.

In case anyone is curious, here is his website.

you should also remind your friend, you already have like 39 people in the original thread that have expressed their interest.
39 people buying at least one replica part is about $20000 at least

like i said, this thread should be limited to expressions of interest. not disinterest
there is no reason for there to be a "no" or "tool" option in the poll. its just meant for tallying interested people. which is wat you want right? why give people the option to play pranks and waste votes

furythree you are right. Can a mod change the poll to just have 1 option saying "yes." If in doing this it resets the current tally it's okay as people can just vote again. Thanks

Anyway, I love the looks of FD Civic (CSX) better than the Civic Si England version. But of course, I prefer the TSX (Euro) right now

The problem I always run into is "would like to see" and "would actually buy" are two very different statements. The former gets a lot more activity than the latter. Its the reason we have not made a grille yet.

I wish I could say yes, but its alot harder to get this thing going that I had thought. Trust me Im still working on it though; I am talking to a few different people in the same industry. My brother is also helping out a friend who just started up his own little performance shop too so we'll see what happens. Guess its scary being the 1st person to invest in a new market.

I dont know alot of connections, Im just trying to use the ones that I know in...but even if I cant get the job done Im pretty sure some company will jump on it eventually.

What kind of numbers are you expecting to see to move the idea into some sort of production? I'm also interested in a replica as original prices are just too high. What numbers for each? e.g. 10 for just a replica grill or 10 for bumper? etc.

nah i doubt a company will jump on the mugen replicas, this kinda thing has to be custom ordered as group buy, or mass manufacturered by a chinese company. for example, i found the type S bodykit replica for $980AUD on ebay. im assuming the seller sourced it from this Alibaba.com wholesaler cause he uses the same chinese pics as his examples.

anyway, there is definitely enough people here interested to make a decent buck, or at the very least make this a low risk investment. if your brother's friend is looking to make a good start as his first project, this would definitely be a good investment cause people are already interested, and i can only assume that once parts have actually been made that more people will jump onboard with an actual product on hand. i know alot of aussies are just waiting for a replica

also you have this forum, plus tsx club.com users and ozhonda.com users as well. combine all of that, and u have alot of users. its just that nobody has actually done anything feasible to spark real interest.

the longer it takes tho, the worse it actually gets because ppl get tired of waiting, lose interest or simply forget about this potential group buy. and then u run into problems such as new models being released

^^ I totally agree with you but unfortunately all I can do is nudge my friend in the right direction. He has to make the final decision and it seems right now he is already swamped with projects of his own. He knows im serious about it thought because I ask him everytime I see him lol.

i bought my visors from supergt. its a hong kong based shop.

basically u can either find a shipping redirector, and buy ur mugen parts off mugen directly, which i dont know how.
the alternative is to redirect but buy from yahoo auctions japan. which is a popular way to get rare parts.

the way i got it was thru supergt. they actually import and export parts. but being a shop they can source in large quantities, so it shud be cheaper.

remember that u are going to pay retail mugen prices (converted to any currency, it still works out the same) and then slap on the retailers premium + shipping and taxes.

i got my visors for mugen price (so it seems the shop does get them cheaper than rrp to be able to sell without a premium) and plus $80 shipping

they didnt have any mugen lip kits on their website. so i sent them a few emails. i was basically quoted the rrp of the lip kit. i was also told there was a three piece complete kit which was cheaper. i think it worked out to be like half price for one of the parts, if u got the front, back and sides together. around $2k aud at the time. plus shipping and taxes. the shipping was fair, they ship it in a big box, which meant that if i got it together with the visors, it wudve been cheap flat rate shipping. but i had no money at the time.

anyhow the link to the visors is here
http://eshop.supergt.com.hk/preview/...hp?pid=DVMGCU2
u can email them an enquiry for the lip kit. they ship to the us.

also, i have found the replica for the type S kit. but its going to cost me $1k. but some dude posted $500 on the aussie ozhonda.com forums. unfortunately the mods had to remove the post because its against the rules to advertise group buys. but now that i know that u can get the whole kit for $500, im interested as to where else you can get the type S replica.

i know they are made in china in bulk because i saw the Alibaba.com listing. but i have no idea how to buy from them without being a business or importer. or buying in bulk.

my original plan was type s back and sides, with mugen front. im finding it so hard to source any of that without being ripped off atm.

I was planning on getting the kit from alibaba however it's expensive to bring to Australia!

A piece of the kit is around USD$250 (for just minimum 5 kits) then you add in shipping and it starts ballooning. Also add in paint and fitment and you have pretty much close to OEM pricing (I think it was AUD$600 for OEM?).. Still undecided on replica Type S or wait for replica Mugen front bumper

i emailed them today
they were willing to sell me just 1 kit for $268 USD
thats the WHOLE KIT not 1 part.

but the shipping is $495 with DHL door to door. i know thats alot, but the boxes are too big for standard shipping. but if u factor in that added together its still cheaper than 1 single oem

or cheaper than $999 for a kit + delivery on ebay. its worth it

also

THEY HAVE MUGEN REPLICAS
its just +$45

GROUP BUY!!!!

check ozhonda, i made some more detailed posts about my experience today on the cu2 mods thread.

all u need is 5 aussies who want the kit and it starts to get so cheap.
however no group buys on that forum. so lame

yes thats right ttk5
they have the US version of the grill in Carbon fiber
u can paint it however u like
they have mugen and type s, i chose mugen with type S rear lip
and they have duck spoiler for like $25 or something.

if u group buy its like $50 cheaper. which is alot. min 5 units

i just ordered mine thru paypal. had to wait a week cause the aussie dollar got ass raped

someone from ozhonda bought the kit from an aussie dealer, who i suspect got it from the same source (and sells it for $1k lol 4x profit) i cant prove this except that i havent found anyone else who actually MANUFACTURES the kits besides these guys and also the dealer uses the same pics as the alibaba people. same photo of their factory and everything.
anyway, he said fitment was PERFECT. so thats good to know
