CT Engineering Supercharger being developed for 09 TSX

Hey Guys,

I was a test car for the first Gen TSX Supercharger and I was just talking to one of my old contacts from CT-Engineering. They told me they are working on a Supercharger kit for the 2009 TSX.

They are still fabricating the kit and but are apparently pretty far along. The current plan is to use a Hondata reflash for the engine management. Apparently, Honda changed the ECU in 09. This kit is for the 09 TSX only. They did not say anything about the 07-08 TSX. (Sorry 07-08 guys)

They are suppose to have pics when the kit is farther along. I will let you guys know if I hear any new news or see any pics.

The V6 is going to make more torque, that's just how it goes with 2 more cyclinders and a large displacement motor. If you take a SC Kit and up the boost though, I think it would give a the V6 a run for it's money. It probably just comes down to preference. Also, I heard the V6 will only come in auto.

Anyone know how much more is the V6 TSX suppose to cost than the I4 TSX?

How much will it run? I hope they keep the V6 price in mind. However, I like the 6-spd so very excited regardless....

I'm guessing here, but probably slightly under a base TL.

Guess I have to start saving money. Or save up for the reflash.

Their s/c systems are the most beautifully engineered and constructed totally complete kits with *no* compromises you've ever seen.

I'm down.

In my opinion, this kit needs to make 60+hp and be under $5000 for me to consider it.

Judging by the previous costs and output for 06 MT models, looks like ~ 50 whp increase and $4395.00 retail.

The CTE (formerly Comptech USA) kits were complete as anything you've ever seen. They fit right the first time, work as advertised and the instructions are better than anything on the market.

You don't *need* anything, but just like any power adder, other mods like exhaust & intake, etc will help overall.

Too bad about the fact that an exhaust would help. Which makes sense. In the past I have found it very difficult to find an exhaust that isn't childish in sound. Give me an exhaust that will sound like a factory 350Z or G35/37 coupe and I'll buy it. Otherwise....I seem to be SOL. The only exhaust I've ever had that I've been happy with sound wise was the RSR I had on my 97 Prelude.

I test drove a Speed3 for fun and the tone at 60mph was a pain. If I had been interested the sound of the exhaust alone would have been enough to make me walk away from the car.

well it looks like you're SOL because there is no way to get a 4 banger to sound like a VQ35. But yes, i love that sound.

I acknowledge I carry a torch for CTE or Comptech, but it's for good reason. Even their exhaust is understated, but works for all around gains, not just peak power and they don't sound like a kazoo.

V6's sound good, so do V8's, V10's sound like a$$ to me (primarily the Viper) my R33 sounds like a frickin' Evinrude. It's hard to make a 4 *not* sound raspy.

What I meant by 350Z/G35 was that I would not want my car to sound any louder then that. RSR did a very good job with the exhaust they produced for the 97 Prelude.

Oh, you're talking volume, not tone, gotcha. Didn't RSR pull out of the states?

Yes I think they did. Besides which they don't make an exhaust for this Gen TSX. I suppose I am talking about volume. I hate an exhaust that has a lot of back pressure 'sound' when cruising or lifting off the gas.

What about smog... I don't think mods of this type are CA legal?
Damn, sounds like a sweet mod though.

If its comptech/CT-engineering, its usually smog legal. They have supercharger for a couple of cars now, and I don't remember any not being smog-legal unless they are exclusively race parts (race header, etc).

CT-engineering is in Cali, if that count for anything.

I believe that the supercharged version will have at least the same amount of power or more than the V6 if that is the case it will be a better rounded car. IMO

With a boost upgrade pulley & appropriate management, it'll be *just right*.

(Not that I know anything about boost upgrade pulleys and their effect on warranties, etc.) Heh...

Adding forced induction in the first place.... I'd think that'd be the larger warranty issue.

If it were not a warranty issue, this would be the choice for enthusiasts.

Power + 6MT > v6 5AT, IMO.

Yeah warranty sucks, I have heard of dealers being very laid back on performance products if they install them. The the power figures on the supercharger should be out in the next 30 days.

I didn't make myself clear. I meant the warranty from Comp...er CTE on the S/C kit. The boost upgrade pulley has voided their warranty in the past.

Hey guys,

I talked with CT-E a couple of days back. They said mechanical fitment of the kit should be done by the end of the month.

And my Acura dealer has actually been great about my warranty even though I have a SC. Some Acura dealerships seem to be good when you have Comptech / CT-E parts. Some of them even sell the CT-E parts. CT-E was actually Honda's performance company in the past. They made parts for a lot of Honda's race cars.

It will void your warranty because it is spinning the blower faster than their base kit does. With the RSX guys, I've heard they have been very good about still honoring warranties even with smaller pulleys.

I work for a company that is one of their largest distributors. We have also sent them a 09 TL-SHAWD. I will have pictures of the installed supercharger next week. Power figures towards the end of May. And my car back the first week in June. It will have the following CT parts on it

springs
sway bar
short shifter
supercharger
exhaust
carbon grille
ice box

The springs will lower the car approx 1 inch all the way around. The ice box should be available in the next couple of weeks.
