06 TSX - AT Transmission Failure
At 6, 579 miles, my TSX is in the shop awaiting the installation of a new transmission. While the local dealership has been great to work with, I wish I knew what happened to my car. The service techs have been trying to find the problem for two days as they claim they have never heard of this problem on a TSX. Have any of you experienced similar problems? Just FYI: It started lurching forward after shifting from reverse to drive. Within a few miles, I lost 1st, 4th, and 5th gears. Transmission fluid level was fine, as well as the color and smell. I'm thinking that when I get my TSX back I'll probably trade/sell it and try again.

Naw, keep the car. Its all good, that's what warranties are for. The trans they put in it will probably last 120K+.
A tranny going custard like that early is certainly unusual, but not unheard of my any measure.
Unlikely the local techs would know how to find what went wrong even if they did tear it apart.
At the end of the day, you may not find out what went wrong, but you will end up with a 99% chance that the new trans will hold up like steel.
Somewhat unknown is that Honda had a quasi-goodwill program going with the 98-03 Accord V-6 automatics. I can't recall what particular component it fried before 90K, but Honda replaced MORE than a few for customers over several years.
S**t happens, and glass half full. Keep car and enjoy.

Agree with the others. You'll be getting a brand new tranny, and the chances of another catastrophic failure are infitesimal.
If you like the car, keep it.

I've never heard of this before Sounds like an isolated issue, at least the dealer is being stand-up about the warranty issue. If I were you, I'd be OK keeping the car.
See if you can get the dealer (or American Honda) to throw in the extended warranty for free because of this issue.

Agreed with everyone here. You're getting a brand new tranny. Dont loose confidence in the whole car because of this. I agree with Reach. Request a free extended warranty to 100k. At least on the new transmission if not the whole car.

I echo all that has been said. I've heard of very little AT problems with the TSX. I would also suggest that if you're that concerned do get them to give you an extended drivetrain warranty. Have them chaulk it up to goodwill.

It's been a week, and I'm still waiting to get my TSX back. The new transmission arrived, but was missing a few parts. I'll pick it up next week. I appreciate the suggestions on getting an extended warranty, I will see if the dealership is willing to work with me.
