Auto Dimming Rear View….Help
It may just be me, but I cannot for the life of me find the button on the rear view mirror to turn off the auto-dimming.
There is no button like the owners manual indicates. Help!!!

There is a power button on the front of the mirror.

I Spit On You.
the button is right in the middle of the front to be exact, and it has a power symbol on it.

^if you look at the picture above, the power button looks like its hidden and cannot be seen. Its also impossible to tell whether its on or off because of the green light. Why did Acura design the mirror like this? Why? They should have put in bold letters "Push This Button to turn on/off Auto Dimming Feature" to make it less confusing instead of the power logo.

What the hell...? It should be right there... in between those two things (sensors / LED)
This must be a change on the 14'... maybe it can't be shut off?... i dunno.

OP, that is really odd and for curiosity's sake I went to Acura's site to see if they had any pics that show the rear view mirror and on the 360 interior view, you can see the power button. Of course they could have made the change for '14 and never updated the pictures or the owner's manual, but...

Sounds like they cheaped on this as I don't see how leaving off the button is better.

I sent a message to Acura Support to see what's up.
Yes the Acura site shows the mirror with a button…but I know there are changes in what is in the car vs. what used to be accessories:
1. The dark accents are standard
2. The leather shifter is standard
3. The leather wheel is standard

[QUOTE=EricInMaryland;14954171]The plastic texture matches that on the dash. They just decided that it should no longer have a button. Wonder if ILX has a button and if TLX will.

Seems pretty obvious that Honda no longer feels it necessary to provide an option to turn the auto dimming feature off. I wish they would have done away with the auto dimming feature all together; never been a fan.

My 2014 has no power button either.
OP - You should be able to just pull the connector out of the mirror to disable it. The only downside is that now you have a dangling connector.

You know have an excuse to go up grade to the auto mirror with compas . It's under honda accesorys for 2012 honda accord. I don't like what they put in 2014 it looks like Acura got bought a bunch of cheap Chinese mirrors to close out TSX.

The easiest way to disable it is to put a piece of electrical tape over the sensor on the face of the mirror (the side facing into the car).

I think it's dumb they removed the button but personally I've never had a need to disable the auto dimming feature anyways..

I've had a bunch on these (unfortunately) and in my opinion they're the answer to a question that no one asked.

Just an update.
I contacted Acura and they finally called me today. They did concede that their website and their owners manual were both wrong and that they did eliminate the button.
I said I find that rather odd that they would make such a change in the final model year of the car. It felt more like they're just running down inventory.
I asked them why there are cars in 2014 with the button and without. No answer
I asked them for a mirror with a button. He said, we don't have any more.
I asked them what they would do if a mirror with a button failed. He said replace it with one that does not have a button.
I then called him a liar I told him I doubted that they would replace a part with a lesser part and then say too bad to the customer.
I mentioned that other cars in the Acura line have the button, replace it with one of those. He said he can't.
I asked that the issue be escalated to the district rep which he is doing.
Finally, I asked him why he called if he could not help. He said to tell me directly instead of via email.

Agreed, and the technology is not only available, it's not new. I had an Audi A6 15 years ago that had auto dimming side view mirrors.

There are a lot of things I cannot change on the TSX and I sure wish I could. This is one I feel I can change. I might fail, but you'd be surprised what I have gotten done after reaching the right person.
