neveronlineilx's Build/Mod/Customization Thread...
Well I have started to add and replace parts on my ILX so I thought I would start a thread to show the progress of the car and the changes I make to it.
So far I have added or changed:
First thing to go was the OE shift knob! Replaced with Spoon Duracon 6spd Knob
Then I saved up and swooped up this bad boy
After Taking it to A Muffler Shop and slicing and Dicing (shed 7lbs of dead weight in addition to making her purr like a LION...LOL)
Here is the total package how she sits today
(exhaust tip barely visible)
So far I have added or changed:
- OEM Trunk Liner
- OEM Wheel Locks
- OEM Mud Guards
- Yellow Laminex on Fogs
- Spoon Res Covers (3 total)
- Spoon Shift Knob
- Spoon Oil and Trans Magnetic Drain Plugs
- Spoon Oil Cap
- Spoon Radiator Cap
- Spoon N1 FD2 R Axle Back (modded to fit ILX)

Nice updates so far! I'll be staying tuned to see where you go from here. The Spoon shift knob is genius. OEM knob gets red hot in the AZ summer sun and has the potential to burn. If you're able to post a sound clip, would love to hear that exhaust. Keep up the great work.

Cant wait to hear a sound clip as well!!
Cars and thread are going in the right track. Are you going to share future plans or update us as you make changes? Seems that exhaust went on before anyone knew you got it... which is much better than whats been going on around here! hahaha

Hope fully I will get a clip or too by the end of the week.
Some future plans I will disclose and some Ill keep under wraps until I get them installed (don't want others whom lack imagination and have more spending money than me to bite ideas )
Biggest plan that needs to take place is the drop. I will be getting CO's as soon as the company I will be working with calls me to bring the car down. This is the slowest process in the world... we are in contact and they always say they are interested and trying to find time to use the car and R&D the parts but its taking forever!!!! Its hindering a lot of what I want to do because they want the car fairly stock so most of the plans are on hold. The exhaust was a must it was in stock and I got a good deal on it so I could not pass it up.
Once I get the Coils and Camber Kits I will be taking the car to Westend for a semi aggressive street alignment that leans toward tire conservation.
Tint is probably in the near future, but I am thinking about not tinting the windows (I think it looks cleaner without tint), but I am sure I will since the benefits out way the minimal difference in looks. I will probably go with a light tint instead of dark though, but we will see.
I do want to mess with the OE intake lower plumbing to get rid of unnecessary tunnels and tubes in it and add some heater hose to extend it to draw the coldest air possible, I will probably be adding a K&N short Ram (FIPK) along with the mods but I am trying to talk them into making a housing specifically for our car (not having much luck yet though )
Wheels are still a ways out, I am sure I will be slammed on stocks for a while... I almost was very close to pulling the trigger on Blue Spoon CR93 wheels but they discontinued the size and offset for our cars and are only doing S2K sizes (which the offset is waaaaaay to high for the ILX) Most likely I will end up with Enkies, Desmonds, Buddy Clubs, Works... but again it will depend on what opportunities present themselves.
Stay Tuned...

Yeah, not trying to be an elitest or anything but I would like to see my ideas and thoughts come to life on my own car before seeing it on someone else's... lol
For the most part I should be cool till prices of the vehicle come down a bit. Most the owners now are going VIP ballet style, when prices get lower and civic people migrate I've then you'll see more performance oriented builds.

Its pretty much the opposite man.
Everyone I see tuning on social sites are murdering everything out and going with a boy racer look. Just about ALL OF THEM. The rest are girls doing pink wheels and pink emblems. Ive seen purple 16s. Two PMMs with black/gunmental wheels and black/gunmetal grill. One blacked out the chrome trim. Eye lids, racing strips.
Just about no one has done anything VIP or even luxurious.... Except for trent that is with his sound insulation. Makes me happy.

Really, I haven't seen any of the cars your talking about, but I stopped going on most other sites and just come here. The VIP style seemed more popular here then performance first style or theme. At least my perception from posts I've seen on threads here

Car looks great!
Meh, Instagram doesn't really have anything special. Other than the silver ilx with the black enkeis or the white ilx with the white stance sc-5 wheels you're just looking at a lot of plastidip,

aaaah. Okay Ive seen that here as well.

That would make for a great conservative look.
You should save up about 1.4g and wait for some 18in desmonds to come up.
I was watching a set 18x8.5/9.5 +45 for $1,350 before shipping in Anaheim. They sold but goes to show you can find them for a decent price in a respectable spec.

Yeah I was planning on saving about 1600 or so for wheels, just waiting on coils and a few aesthetic mods then intake and wheels. I'm not planning to get too crazy with the motor I like not having to worry about ref tickets or smog when the time comes. Paying for shady smogs is expensive and time consuming... Lol

1600 for 17in wheels would buy something pretty nice.
I was thinking 1600 for 19in myself.

Yeah I'm hoping so, we will see. First pic is regas but there are lots of back up choices lol!!! First choice is white, then black, then that work dark bronze color it's pretty sick!

Im not the kind of person to pick ONE set of wheels. Makes helping friends pick wheels very hard since people tend to be so damn picky.
Perfect example is my buddy jorge who is driving around an older civic and looking to trade up to an sti or save and go for the new entry level audi. When helping him looks for wheels for the civic he says "They need to be 10 spoke. The spokes need to start fatter near the lugs then get smaller but no concave curves and where the lug nuts go need to be flat no cut out bla bla yada yada" I tend to laugh and tel him he sounds like a girl picking out a prom dress.
I will just do as it sounds like you will. Save up what you know will buy a good set of wheels then wait for something sick to pop up. Of course Ive got specific names I want, Meisters, SP1, aggressive ass rpf1s, emotion kais, eurolines, 3sdm 0.05, any rotiforms, list goes on. hahaha

Yeah on my 99SI I went through about 6 sets of wheels, on my S I went through 4 sets then its been all stock wheels on the rest of my cars but they haven't stayed in the stable for more than 16 months lol, shortest stay was the Evo X (10 months then traded) and 2010 SI (8 months and then traded) never even got to pay registration on those two... lol

I am trying to get you guys a sound clip of the exhaust but the Iphone 5 just does not do it justice any one have any tips I would love to hear them I have recorded while driving about three different times but it sounds so so at best
#27
Set your iphone to record and place it next to your exhaust. Like against a box watching the rear end of your ilx. Jump in the car, turn it on, and rev a few times.
You may need to trim the video a bit to make it smaller. But there are cheap easy programs and even apps for it.

Oh the good ol spoon n1. Sounds great. Drive out of the driveway and down the street and back witht he iphone in the same spot.

Damn now you got me thinking about picking up an n1 axle back and choppin it to fit. n1 was a good idea and to go mugen would be way more expensive for no better a part.
I may just have to copy you!!
Have you looked around for a mid pipe yet?

I would recommend it and I would do a spoon N1 before other JDM ones because its less expensive and its SS as opposed to Ti (like J's or the tip on some Toda's or Mugen Exhausts + it had to be offered in an axle back). SS makes it much easier to have someone modigy it for you if you go Ti then you have to find a welder who is experienced with Ti
As for midpipe since ours is big enough I probably wont be swapping it out but I may delete the resonator, but for now she will stay the way it is because I am really not looking for it to be too much louder. Once I mod the intake and switch it out then I will see what the whole thing sounds like. I might play around with things from there, but for now I am happy with it

Progress Technology 23mm Sway Bar installed! Full review coming in another thread but I must say the improvement is amazing. Honda should have beefed it up on the OEM as this is the way the car should have performed from the factory
