Acura aware of TSX Hood shake
Acura Customer services responded my letter regarding noticeable hood shake at freeway speed and over modest to moderately rough pavement.
The Acura rep himself has an 09 TSX as a company car and has noticed the problem with his. Acura is monitoring the " case load" ie the number of complaints coming in from customers. They have started to look at the problem but have not issued any TSB's or other service instructions.
So I got the answer I figured i would... No fix available at this time.
PROSPECTIVE BUYERS: Throughly road test a TSX to make sure the hood shake wont bother you....
Current owners: If it bugs you...bug Acura about it Maybe they can engineer a remedy.

I'm not sure the source of the shake - but try to ask your local dealer to do the "MDX hood fix". They should be able to look up a TSB for it. I haven't seen a 09 TSX with this issue yet - but surely it could be fixed the same way.

WTH happened to my garage
When you drive over somewhat rough roads or railroad tracks, etc, the hood will shake a little bit and can be seen through the base of the windshield. It's most noticeable at the edges.
I bet a good cowl brace tying the strut towers and the firewall area together would help a lot. Hopefully there will be something in the near future.

I wrote a letter and sent it US Mail with a copy to dealer. Always write a respectful letter with FACTS. You will get some attention.

Re: Case xxx xxx xxxxx x
Having had very good experience with our first 2004 TSX we recently purchased a new 2009 TSX.
The new TSX exhibits quite a bit of hood vibration or flutter. The hood will exhibit mild shaking at slow speeds over road joints or on modestly rough pavement. I also noted the flutter or vibration at freeway speeds on smooth pavement when driving into the wind.
The service department at the selling dealer, XXXXX Acura, concurred on a test drive that the hood does indeed "bounce around". They took the car in for service and provided me a 2009 TL as a loaner.
XXXXX Acura has advised me that they could not make any adjustments to alleviate the problem. They said they drove two other new TSX's they had in inventory and that they too exhibit the same behavior. The dealer maintains that it is therefore considered to be "normal for the TSX" and nothing can be done.
I find it hard to believe that Acura would consider this kind of hood vibration normal. It is not something an Acura customer expects from such a quality vehicle. I noted that the Acura TL loaner I drove certainly did not have the problem even when driving over the very same roads that cause the problem with the TSX.
Your consideration of this problem and any recommended solution would be appreciated.
Sincerely
