Yup, that would be so cool. I used to watch Miss Budweiser and the unlimited hydroplanes in Detroit. Cool racing in the summer heat.

I'd like to see IndyCar suceed and get back to it's success of the 80's and 90's. Hopefully with Roger in charge it'll get back to that level of racing.

The days of Mansell, Fittipaldi, Andrettis, Foyt, Unsers, Sullivan, et. al are long gone, doubt that kind of racing will ever occur again. Besides, the new cars are butt ass ugly.

EDIT: just watched the Long Beach GP, the cars don't look that bad really.

Popular drivers ebb and flow for virtually any series, I enjoyed Mears, Montoya, Vasser, and others in Indy. I casually watched a few IndyCar races last season and enjoyed the action of entertaining on-track action. There was actual passing and AFAIK driver's don't have to baby the tires so much as in F1, I checked and there were 7 different race winners in 2023. Indy 500 is still part of Motorsport's triple crown, although I've hardly watched it the past decade.

Do miss the last few years of Reynard cars in Champ/CART two decades ago, they were sleek looking open wheel cars IMO even more aesthetically pleasing than F1 with their grooved tires and narrow tracks of that period.

The LBGP was the one race I most looked forward to every year. It was more anticipated than Monaco, Le Mans, Indy, etc. I haven't watched a race since 2000. They disrespected the fans.

Very interesting interview with Zak Brown about the state of IndyCar:

What a scandal. Probably the biggest cheating scandal in years. I can't imagine nobody on the team did not know about this.
