Swapping hondata reflashed 06 ecu to 07 tsx!
I'm on the verge of trying this out!Has anybody ever tried this without any ill effects?I know the only thing i would lose is the TPMS system but thats not a big deal to me....

The part numbers are completely different - you lose more than just TPMS. There will be all sorts of other problems. Call your dealer and ask for the part numbers for an 06 ECU and an 07 - it will take you 5 minutes. Unless you plan to swap the entire engine - no dice.
You can't just swap it and expect the computer to work. Unless you don't care about all sorts of weird warning messages and CELs coming on you are out of luck.
Besides, if it were this simple, HONDATA would just offer an ECU swap and double their customer base.

We know they changed the processor in the 07/08 ECU's - who is to say all the other sensors, signals, etc are different?
And as for having to swap the whole engine? Where did you get that from?
Besides the fact that the part numbers for the ECU's are different, do you have any actual facts to back up your last post at all?

go ahead and try it. There are countless threads about this - try searching.
The encryption between the 2 ECUs are different. But go ahead buy an 06 and plug it in - be curious if the car even starts

(Don't forget to back it up with facts - 2nd time asking...)
BS!
Can't find one with results. What kind of encryption are you talking about? Are you talking about chip key/immobilizer/ECU communication? Please post a link to where you got this info. Even if there is something different, a few more '06 parts might get things going...

I totally admire your willingness to give this a try & if you are able to complete this ECU swap you will be a hero!
There are some risks that haven't been mentioned. If the wiring harness is that different, you could cook the 2006 ECU or some devices in the car once you plug it in and connect the battery.
You really should study the wiring diagrams of both the 2006 TSX and the 2007 TSX to see what the differences are.
I would also try to unplug as many devices as possible when 1st plugging in the 2006 ECU. ie, stereo, navigation, factory alarm, ABS module, VSA module, etc, etc.
Go to "minimum configuration" on your car to avoid cooking any of those modules.
I don't want to dissuade you but if it was easy, Hondata would've already done it & simply sell 2006 TSX ECU's with the reflash already in for 2007-8 TSX's.
The immobolizer module is fairly cheap new from Acura so don't let that hold you back but if you buy an ECU without the matching immobolizer & key, the car will not start, only crank, & will need to get it to the dealer to program the RFID/chip keys.
Research, plan & proceed carefully....

Fesus- obviously you believe it can be some done so go for it.
People on this board have been talking about it for years yet nobody
Has ever done it. That tells me its not possible, but you seem to think we are
All just idiots. So do it man. Buy the ECU and have at it.
Doesn't take more than 5 minutes to swap what are u waiting for?
you could put hondata out of business. - cause obviously they tried
this but determined it wouldn't be good business sense to
Add that heavily requested product to their lineup.

Just got done checkin around on a acura oem store website an all of the part numbers on sensors an wire harnesses are the same for the 06 an 07 models except for 1 thing-instrument panel harness...Wonder if that has something to do with the added wires for the TPMS system...So from what i gathered it looks like they 06 an 07 models use all of the same sensors an harnesses but just a different ECU an the added wires an sensors for the TPMS system...

If anyone will get this to work, it's you! You've already done more than any of the slackers that just posted about this and hoped that someone else who did it would hand them the answer...

Surely tho alot of guys did that already an they will prolly say the same old thing that it prolly won't work...I mean why can't they give us at least an explanation why it won't work rather than just give us a straitforward answer an then just leave us guys hang!...with my research i'v done so far its looks like there would be a big chance that it would work!....Damn,i just need to get ahold of a 06 MT ecu once!...
P.S....I'll send them an email about it tho an just see what they say...

^ Probably a liability issue, they don't want to say anything just in case it doesn't work and you sue them for "misleading" you.

So would you need some kind of adapter for that?
bunch of ECUs on Ebay but they are all for AT

I did some poking on www.AcuraOEMparts.com also.
The immobolizers are different p/n's btwn 2006 & 2007.
39730-SDA-A11 IMMOBILIZATION UNIT 2006 TSX 44.92 33.69
39730-SCV-A01 IMMOBILIZATION UNIT 2007 TSX 74.92 56.19
I would plan on getting a 2006 immobilizer also. A 2006 matched key, immobilizer & ECU out of a wrecked TSX would be ideal but hard to find.
So disconnect the battery, disconnect as many items as possible, Nav, stereo, VSC, ABS, etc..
Temporarily plug in 2006 immobolizer. Temporarily plug in 2006 ECU. Connect battery, turn key on.
The cluster should power on & light up. The car will not start but it should crank.
Perhaps at this point, plug in the orginal ECU & immobolizer & start the car to make sure all is still ok.
Then start plugging in the disconnected components in one at a time. You are going to need a OBDII code reader to clear any codes but these are cheap and everyone should have one anyway....

The ECU & immobolizer are easy to swap as you likely know...
http://www.hondata.com/tsx_ecu_removal.html
As for unplugging the various devices, I'm not sure. You may have to unplug them right at the device.. (the ABS under the hood for example).
Or dig around under the dash to unplug them.
Or you could find the fuses corresponding to them & pull the fuses.
You really should be studying a wiring diagram before trying this swap. Perhaps one of the connectors right at the ECU is simply for all the external devices???
Perhaps some of these devices are not even connected to the ECU??
The wiring diagram will tell you this.
Once the ECU is swapped & all is looking ok, you will have to take the car to the dealer.
Either tow it or re-install the original parts, drive it to the dealer & then swap in the 2006 parts at the dealer & have them configure the keys there.
Then the car should start & run.

Nice pick up & great price.
I looked all summer for a 2006 TSX MT ECU so I could get the Hondata flash with no down time for our car. I never could find one for a reasonable price.
Some things to watch for:
- the ECU p/n. (Hondata website has the ECU p/n's.)
- the immobolizer p/n.
- there won't be any way to confirm that the key is actually matched to the ECU & immobolizer.
Where are you located Steve? If you were close, I'd be over helping you with this swap...

Guess i'm back to the searching mode again for awhile....

Well I'm glad you are still working on this Steve....
From the Hondata website:
Any K24A2 TSX Manual transmission owner with the ECU part numbers :
There are a few newer ECU p/n's that Honda released for the 2006. A Honda dealer employee purchased a brand new 2006 MT ECU from Honda & it had a different suffix in the p/n than any of these. This was posted on T S Xclub.

Honda's wiring diagrams indicate the 04-06 ECU should drive the 07/08 TSX.
They also indicate the 04-06 ECU installed in this car loses the ability to communicate with the stock OBD II connector, so there is no way of datalogging from the stock ECU for things like drive by wire problems etc. It would require the installation of a wire from the ECU to the OBD II connector.
If someone in SoCal would like to would like to make contact with us, I could test the dual adapter harness on an 07-08 fairly quickly with an 04 ECU.

Is he sayin that since there is no communication between the ecu to the OBD II connector that i would have drive by wire problems?...

Hes probably talking about the K-line which is used for communication with the OBDII port. It might have moved to a different pin location in the different years. I have a dual harness for my accord and had to add the k-line pin to the ODBII port.

Any luck so far? Updates?
